Grammar I provides students with the basic tools of grammatical analysis. In this class, the following topics will be studied:

I. WORD CLASS

1. Nouns (proper nouns, count and uncount nouns)
2. Pronouns (personal; demonstrative; interrogative; reflexive and reciprocal; indefinite; relative)
3. Determiners and Quantifiers (definite and indefinite articles;    quantifiers)
4. Possessives (nouns, pronouns, adjectives) 
5. Adjectives
6. Verbs
7. Adverbs                                                  

II. FUNCTION

1. Clause, phrase and sentence
2. Noun phrases : subject, direct object, indirect object, subject   complement, object complement
3. Verb phrases : analysis of predicate
